Glory Days: A Bruce Springsteen Celebration on September 9-11, 2005







 

As of Tuesday, September 6, conference registration will be accepted only at the conference site. On-site registration will be offered at an increased price.

Web site concert registration will end at 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, September 8. Tickets will be available at the Stone Pony on the evening of the performance at an increased price.

Attention members of the Press!
If you are covering this event for your publication, you can pick up a press pass on-site at the symposium--at the Sheraton Eatontown Center on Thursday or Friday morning or in the Pollak Theatre Lobby at Monmouth University on Friday afternoon, Saturday, or Sunday. There will be a special press table at both venues.

Empty Sky ... The Rising at The Two Rivers Theater,
Red Bank, 8:00 p.m.

A unique dance/theatre experience that reflects on the events of 9/11 through the dramatic vision of international choreographer Bob Boross, a speaker at the symposium. Performed to a soundtrack of eleven songs from Bruce Springsteen's CD The Rising, "Empty Sky ... The Rising" is a must-see for Springsteen fans and anyone who remains touched by 9/11. Performances support The Memoria Project of Highlands, New Jersey. Tickets are $35. Springsteen Appreciation Night at The Saint,
Asbury Park, 8:30 p.m.

Come experience a great night of music from artists influenced by the work of Bruce Springsteen. The lineup features:

8:30 p.m. Cool Days End
9:30 p.m. Glen Burtnick (solo acoustic)
10:45 p.m. Maybe Pete

Tickets are $10 advance and $12 at the door. Tickets may be reserved on the
Saint's Web site. The Saint is located at 601 Main Street in Asbury Park.

This is Glen Burtnick's first ever appearance at the legendary Asbury Park
rock club.

The venue is located about two blocks from the Asbury Park Train Station
(Jersey Coast Line) which connects people from Bay Head to New York City.
Parking is available on Main Street and side streets.

The club is 21+ only.

About the Event

Bruce Springsteen has produced a considerable body of original work that has impacted the direction of popular music and American culture. His influence extends from the stage into the classroom, and his works have turned up in the syllabi of courses across the United States and around the world.

This first-of-its-kind conference will bring together educators, journalists, historians, musicologists, and anyone interested in scholarship regarding Bruce Springsteen and his influence on American culture.

The symposium will take place on the beautiful campus of Monmouth University and at the Sheraton Eatontown Center. The conference will begin the morning of September 9 at the Sheraton. Afternoon sessions on September 9 and sessions on September 10 and 11 will take place at Monmouth. For additional details, please see the Agenda, Speakers and Special Events section.

Who Should Attend

If you are an educator, journalist, historian, musicologist, cultural anthropologist, sociologist, or political scientist, or just have an interest in the scholarship regarding Bruce Springsteen, this conference is for you.

The Program
